Frequency
Bio
Bryan Fryzel p/k/a Frequency is a New York-based music producer managed by Josh Kamen through our affiliate Still Legal Entertainment. Frequency first came on the scene as the DJ and producer of the underground Hip-Hop group The Understudies, which released the 12-inch single “Now & Then” b/w “Bananas” on Freshchest/High Times Records in the summer of 2004.
The Understudies’ strong reputation led New York underground mainstay Wordsworth to seek Frequency out while he was recording his solo LP, Mirror Music. After producing three tracks on Mirror Music, Frequency went on to work with several other artists in the independent scene: from Oktober (“NYC” on Projekt: Building) to Tonedef (“Give A Damn Remix” on Archetype) to El Da Sensei (“Natural Feel Good” on The Unusual).
2006 was a break-out year for Frequency. Not only did he win Scion’s New York leg of the King of the Beats competition, but he produced a string of hits for major label artists including “Plenty of Love” by Raekwon, Gravy and Tikky Diamonds, “Ya’ll Can’t Live His Life” by Cam’ron and “Think About It” by Snoop Dogg. Snoop has often referred to “Think About It” as one of his favorite songs, and Frequency’s work on the track landed him a spot in Scratch Magazine’s “Boiling Point” column.
The following year, Frequency produced tracks for Ghostface Killah, Red Café, Lil’ Mama, eMC (Masta Ace, Punch, Words and Strick), A. Pinks, and the breakout New York radio anthem for Juganot, “En Why Cee” (featuring Joell Ortiz and Uncle Murda). He also became a member of Trackmasters, working on an album for Lil’ Kim, and reunited with his old friend 6th Sense from The Understudies to produce the bulk of 6th’s Rawkus debut LP It’s Coming Soon. To top it all off, Frequency worked with Snoop Dogg again, producing “One Chance (Make It Good)” for Snoop’s Ego Trippin’ LP.
Since 2008, Frequency has produced songs for artists ranging from Keyshia Cole to Game to Slim (from 112) to Ja Rule to Ras Kass to Slaughterhouse (the Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Royce 5’9” and Crooked I supergroup currently signed to Shady records). He is also in the process of developing Adair, a Pop music singer/songwriter signed to his production company, Freq Show Music, Inc. Moreover, Frequency has toured extensively as the DJ for both Slaughterhouse and Joell Ortiz.
In 2010, Frequency formed the group FNA with indie alt rock singer/songwriter/producer Anna Yvette. In addition to writing and producing songs for other artists – including Joell Ortiz’s recent single “So Hard” – Frequency and Anna started developing their own material. By December, FNA landed a deal on Atlantic Records’ newly revived Big Beat subsidiary. FNA’s first single on Big Beat is “Take Me Home Tonight,” a dance remake of the classic record originally recorded by Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector, was released in April 2011. Frequency recently has been working with iFFY the Badman. iFFY’s single, “Do You,” produced by Frequency, was released in August 2011 on Universal Republic.
